Townora Council has opened the 2026 Community Grants round, with $600,000 available to local groups. Individual grants of up to $20,000 are on offer for projects that bring neighbours together, strengthen local connections and make the town a better place to live.

Who can apply

Incorporated community groups, sports and arts clubs, neighbourhood associations and not-for-profit organisations based in Townora are all welcome to apply. Individuals and commercial businesses are not eligible, but they are encouraged to partner with a local group that is.

The kinds of projects we fund

Recent successful projects include community gardens, youth sports equipment, cultural festivals, accessibility upgrades to community halls and free after-school activities. Projects must be delivered within twelve months of the grant being awarded and must be open to the wider community.

The best community projects begin with a neighbour who noticed something missing and decided to do something about it.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online through the council website and remain open for six weeks. A clear budget, a realistic timeline and letters of support from people who will benefit will all strengthen your application. Free workshops will run throughout the round to help first-time applicants.

What this means for you

If your group has an idea but is not sure where to start, call 311 and our community team will talk it through with you. Successful applicants will be announced on this page and in the Townora Monthly newsletter.
