About this service
Council rates fund the roads, parks, libraries and waste services that every household in Townora relies on. Rates are calculated from the value of your property and are billed once a year, with the option to pay in four quarterly instalments.
Before you start
- Have your rates notice or property number ready
- Have your pension card details available if you are applying for a rebate
- Check that the owner details on your property are up to date
How your rates are calculated
Property values are assessed independently every two years. Your general rate is your assessed value multiplied by the rate in the dollar, and fixed charges for waste and stormwater are added to reach your total.
Objecting to your valuation
If you believe your valuation is wrong, you may lodge an objection within 60 days of receiving your notice. Include recent sales evidence for similar properties, and the independent valuer will respond in writing.
Help if you are struggling
If you are having difficulty paying, contact us before the due date. Payment plans, deferrals for eligible owners and hardship assistance are available, and no extra interest is charged while an agreed plan is being met.
