About this service
All dogs and cats in Townora must be microchipped and registered with the council by the time they are three months old. Registration helps us return lost pets to their owners quickly and funds the animal shelter, off-leash parks and ranger patrols.
Before you start
- Have your pet's microchip number ready
- Know your pet's date of birth, breed and colour
- Have proof of desexing from your vet if applicable
- Bring your concession card if you are eligible for a discount
Renewing your registration
Registrations expire each year on 30 June. We send a reminder by email 30 days before, and you can renew in a few clicks. Renewals paid after 31 July attract a late fee of $20.
Lost or found pets
If your pet goes missing, report it through this service and contact the Townora Animal Shelter, which scans every animal for a microchip. If you find a stray animal, take it to a local vet or the shelter, or call 311 and a ranger will assist.
Rules for dog owners
Dogs must be on a lead in public places, except in designated off-leash parks. Owners must pick up after their pets and keep dogs under effective control at all times.
