About this event

Town Plan 2040 is Townora's long-term blueprint for how the town will grow over the next two decades. This hands-on workshop focuses on the hillside neighbourhoods, where steep streets, older homes and limited transport links raise questions that need local answers.

Small table groups, each hosted by a council planner, will explore the issues that matter most to hillside residents. Every comment is recorded and grouped by theme, then published in a summary report that feeds directly into the draft Town Plan.

Program

  • Welcome and overview of Town Plan 2040 - 10:00 am
  • Table session 1: housing and neighbourhood character - 10:20 am
  • Table session 2: drainage, slopes and safety - 11:00 am
  • Morning tea break - 11:30 am
  • Table session 3: buses and walking links - 11:45 am
  • Table session 4: parks and green space - 12:15 pm
  • Next steps and close - 12:45 pm

Getting there

Hillside Community Hall is at the top of the Hillside shopping strip and is served by the local hillside bus loop, with a stop outside the front gate. Parking on the surrounding streets is limited, so we encourage you to walk, carpool or take the bus. A drop-off zone for people with limited mobility is available at the hall entrance.

Accessibility

  • Step-free access and accessible toilets
  • Hearing loop and large-print handouts available
  • Quiet corner for anyone who needs a break
  • Children are welcome, with a supervised play corner

What to bring

Bring any photos, maps or notes that show what works and what does not on your street. No planning knowledge is needed, and all ideas are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the morning.

How your feedback is used

The planning team will publish a summary of all workshop feedback on the council website within four weeks. When the draft Town Plan goes on public exhibition, it will explain how each major suggestion from hillside residents was addressed.
